It’s Banana Bread, but better, because chocolate makes everything better, right? My kids were skeptical. They said, does chocolate go with bananas? And I had them all convinced within one bite. 

We’re just coming out of our second lockdown and I know a lot of places in the world are going into lockdown too. And if quarantine has been represented by anything from the first time around it’s banana bread. So for a little upgrade, let’s make this rounds BB double chocolate!

What is double chocolate banana bread?

I don’t know about you, but for me, adding chocolate to almost anything is ALWAYS a good idea. My family loves Classic Banana Bread, and Banana Blueberry Bread, so I thought, why not add chocolate to our favorite Banana bakes?!

Adding cocoa powder as well as lots of chocolate chips to the batter take this classic recipe to a whole new level.

What ingredients do you need for this recipe?

I love this recipe because it can be made with basic pantry staples.

  • Ripe bananas
  • Vegetable oil, I used canola
  • Sugar
  • Egg
  • Vanilla extract
  • All purpose flour
  • Cocoa powder
  • Salt
  • Baking powder
  • Instant coffee
  • Boiling water
  • Chocolate chips 

How to make double chocolate banana bread:

This recipe comes together super easily in just a few quick steps. The hardest part of this recipe is waiting for it to bake in the oven!

  1. First whisk oil, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  2. Then add in mashed bananas and mix to combine.
  3. Fold in flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder.
  4. Next, pour in the dissolved coffee and mix.
  5. Mix in most of the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour mixture into a loaf pan and top with remaining chocolate chips.
  7. Bake and Enjoy!!

Can banana bread be made into muffins?

Yes! This chocolate banana bread recipe works great as muffins. The only change you need to make is to adjust the baking time to about 20-30 minutes.

Can chocolate banana bread be frozen?

Absolutely! I love freezing this banana bread because it stays fresh in the freezer for a long time (up to 6 months). When defrosting, slice and place in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to warm up, it will taste like it’s straight from the oven!

Can you eat Double Chocolate Banana Bread for breakfast?

Ummm… if you ask me, then I say OF COURSE, WHY NOT?! There are bananas in there, so I say it’s a great breakfast, especially slathered in butter with a hot cup of coffee.

  • Loaf Pan

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • ⅓ cup oil
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp instant coffee granules dissolved in
  • ¼ cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips divided

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉/180℃.
  • Prepare a loaf pan lined with baking paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl whisk oil, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  • Add in mashed bananas and mix to combine.
  • Using a spatula fold in flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder.
  • When all combined pour in the dissolved coffee and mix.
  • Mix in about ¾ cup of the chocolate chips.
  • Pour mixture into the prepared loaf pan and top with remaining chocolate chips.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

Notes

Best served warm or room temperature with butter!
This chocolate banana bread freezes well if you want to make it in advance. Just warm up for a few minutes in the oven before serving.

As of yesterday at this time I had no costume plans and was bumming out.

I love Purim, I love coming up with cute / fun costume ideas, running around town looking forward the different components and then hot gluing into the night... ahhh good times 😅🙌🏻

Obviously this year threw me for a loop. But my teens and I put our heads together and scoured Pinterest. My criteria was: EASY, EASY, EASY and cute (and easy!).

So happy we stumbled on this one bc it’s just PERFECT for our family 😂🍟

WHAT A WEEK (ok two weeks). It’s been pretty rocky for my family and I am so thankful that we are all feeling great now, Thank God.

I wasn’t sure what Purim would look like for us this year, and to be honest I still don’t know. 

But I do know that hamentashen will be involved bc yum.

I created these hamentashen a few weeks ago when I was working on a valentines video for a client and I came across this amazing raspberry chocolate. It tasted SO good I just knew I wanted it on my hamentashen 🤣

All the deets are up on the blog. If you can’t find this specific chocolate, no worries, you can use ruby chocolate for the pink or even white chocolate! 

Even though I loveeee how these came out (delish!) I think I’m always going to be team classic hamentashen 😅 what about you? Team Fancy or classic?

My baby is 7 today and you can say I’m having all the feels. 
But the main one is exhaustion (quarantine blah blah blah).

But seriously, as usual this cake was all done today including deciding on the theme 😂 luckily I had red fondant and my friends dropped off balloons and sparklers 🧨.

Woo hoo it’s that time of year again ! Before every holiday I find myself saying “this one is my favorite” 😂 so at least I’m consistent.

There really is something special about each holiday, and Purim is no exception. 

My famous hamentashen recipe is updated and on the blog now! It is the only hamentashen dough recipe you’ll need this season (and ever!).

Super easy way to spruce up ANY challah, including (especially?) bakery challah. 
Garlic, olive oil and parsley 🌿 - mix it all up and brush it on.

Just a heads up- serving size is an entire challah bc it’s so freakin good!

Shabbat shalom guys ✌🏻

חלה בשום

המצרכים (לחלה אחת):
½ 4 כפיות שמרים יבשים
כף סוכר לבן
2 כוסות מים פושרים
¾ כוס סוכר לבן
½ כוס שמן קנולה
1 ביצה L
קילו קמח לחם
כף מלח ורוד ״הימלאיה דק״

לציפוי:
1 חלמון
1 כף מים
שומשום (אופציונלי)

תוספת שום:
רבע כוס שמן זית
3-4 שיני שום כתוש
פטרוזיליה טריה

אופן ההכנה:
 בקערת מיקסר ערבבו שמרים, סוכר ומים. חכו 5 דקות.
הוסיפו סוכר, שמן, ביצה, קמח ומלח והפעילו את המיקסר על מהירות נמוכה.
אם הבצק דביקי מאוד הוסיפו קצת קמח.
המשיכו לערבב במיקסר לחמש דקות, עצרו ותנו לבצק לנוח 2 דקות.
המשיכו ככה עד לקבלת בצק חלק.
כדררו את הבצק והניחו בקערה משומנת, כסו עם ניילון נצמד ומגבת ותנו לו לתפוח למשך שעה.
אחרי שעה נפח הבצק אמור להיות בערך כפול. לושו את הבצק לחצי דקה, ותנו לו לנוח עוד שעה בערך.
הוציאו את הבצק מהקערה וחלקו אותו ל-4 כדורים שווים. החזירו 3 כדורים לקערה.
חלקו את הבצק שנשאר ל-4 וקלעו צמה. המשיכו עם שאר הבצק.
הניחו את החלות על מגש תנור עם נייר אפייה וכסו עם מגבת לתפיחה אחרונה של 20 דקות.
חממו את התנור ל-180 מעלות.
בקערה קטנה ערבבו חלמון ומים והברישו על החלות.
אפו את החלות למשך 25-35 דקות עד לקבלת צבע זהב.
בקערה קטנה ערבבו שמן, שום ופטרוזיליה.
הברישו את התערובת מעל החלה שיצאה הרגע מהתנור.

✨Tu B’Shvat 🌳✨ For Tu B’Shvat this yea ✨Tu B’Shvat 🌳✨

For Tu B’Shvat this year I wanted to focus on the shivat haminim (7 species) of the land of Israel. And obviously, boards. Bc who doesn’t love a good board?

This Tu B’Shvat board features (almost) all of the shivat haminim including my favorite crackers from @pat_bamelach plus some yummy cheese and dried/fresh fruit.
